Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine
This course is designed to offer a detailed introduction to the fundamental concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as they apply to massage therapists. It covers the basic theory and history of Traditional Chinese Medicine and takes an unbiased evidenced based look at the efficacy of TCM based somatic therapies. It introduces the foundational concepts and theories upon which all forms of Asian bodywork are based on.

Educational Objectives
Define the terms Meridian, and Chi
List the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Explain the connection between Acupuncture and Acupressure.
Explain how the traditional practice of Moxibustion is similar to the use of Hot Stones in western massage therapy.

Introduction to Meridians and Acupoints
This course is designed to offer a detailed introduction to the Meridians and Acupoints of the body in preparation for the incorporation of Shiatsu into a massage practice.

Educational Objectives
Identify the Meridians of the body.
Detail the functions of the Meridians.
Correctly identify the major Acupoints to be manipulated for the treatment of specific maladies.
Name and describe the “Four Pillars” of client assessment in Acupressure massage.

Tenets of Zen Shiatsu
This course is covers the foundational, core doctrines of Zen Shiatsu and compares them to traditional Shiatsu. It discusses the origin of Shiatsu and traces its history and development. It also covers the scientific efforts being made to prove the existence of Meridians.

Identify the foundational, core doctrines of Zen Shiatsu.
Explain the difference between traditional Shiatsu and ZenShiatsu
Describe the scientific efforts being made (and presented in this course) to prove the existence of Meridians
