Course Description
Welcome to the Massage Therapy and Arthritis. This comprehensive course is designed to provide massage therapists with practical information to help you safely work with clients who have arthritis. By understanding the unique challenges and considerations associated with arthritis, you will be equipped to offer safe, effective, and tailored massage treatments to enhance your clients’ well-being.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this home study continuing education course, the massage practitioner should be able to:
1. List the different types of arthritis and their common symptoms.
2. List the benefits and contraindications of massage therapy for clients with arthritis.
3. Describe strategies for adapting massage techniques to accommodate clients with arthritis.
4. Identify complementary therapies that can be integrated with massage to help clients with arthritis.
5. Explain the importance of communication, client assessment, and evaluation to ensure safe and effective massage treatments.
6. List self-care techniques and recommendations to prevent occupational strain and maintain optimal health as a massage therapist working with clients with arthritis.

This course is classified as “Cognitive” learning, meaning that there is no hands-on portion.

12 Hour Daily Limit
Please be advised that our school limits our students to 12 hours of continuing education per day (four of our 3-hour courses). So if you need 36 hours of continuing education be prepared to space it out over three days.
